Safety Tips - When going away on holiday

1. Test your alarm system or contact your service provider to send a technician and have the entire alarm system tested well in advance of you going on leave, do not leave it for the last minute.
   
2. Lock all doors and close all windows arm the alarm before driving off.
   
3. Inform your security company that you will be away
   
4. Supply your security company with key holder information. In case of emergencies
   
5. Put outside lights on a day night sensor
   
6. Have some external lights on a motion sensor linked to a buzzer in the house not to main alarm system.
   
7. Have internal lights linked to a timer that switch’s lights on and off or ask a neighbour to switch lights on and off while you are away.
   
8. Inform your neighbours that you going away for leave.

1. Lock up the house.
   
2. Close all windows & curtains.
   
3. Have your lights on timer switches.
   
4. Don't leave valuables or firearms lying around inside the house.
   
5. Check your Burglar Alarm - Service if necessary.
   
6. Have your garden maintained if possible.
   
7. Inform your neighbours or get someone to keep an eye on your home.
   
8. Leave keys, alarm codes and your contact numbers with a trusted person.
   
9. Switch off your gate intercom & turn down your telephone volume.
   
10. Ask your security company/police department if they have a "Vacation Check" program.
    
11. Make your house look as lived in as possible.
    
12. Arrange to have your mail cleared (either by your neighbours or speak to your local Post Office about holding your mail) and cancel any other regular deliveries (such as milk and the paper).
