What is SIRA ?
SIRA (Security Industry Regulatory Authority) is a statutory body tasked with registering and controlling members of the Private Security Industry. Any person or company offering services in this industry must be registered with the regulatory authority. The regulatory authority may impose sanctions on members who disregard statutory regulations, as published in the Government Gazette from time to time.
Top Security and it’s staff, are duly registered with SIRA.
What is SAISA ?
SAISA is the South African Insurance Association. The association’s members have registered a joint-venture company called SAISA-approved (Pty) Ltd.
What is the function of SAIA-Approved (Pty) Ltd ?
SAIA-approved (Pty) Ltd has been created to protect the interests of both the insurers and their clients. They do this by way of setting minimum standards for various sectors and types of equipment. These standards are then applied by registering approved contractors to perform the work within their sector to the required standards. Top Security are approved installers of SAIA-Approved and also authorized to carry out inspections on existing systems for compliancy.
What is SAIDSA ?
SAIDSA is the South African Intruder Detection Services Association. This association sets and monitors standards within the Intruder Detection (Electronic Security etc) industry in South African. Membership may only be obtained by duly registered and approved companies, who have met specified criteria in terms of the quality of their services. Top Security are registered and approved by SAIDSA in terms of installations, control room standards and armed response services.

What is By-Law 25 ?
The minimum requirements of the Insurance Industry (SAIA), as set in conjunction with SAIDSA, and monitored by SAIA-Approved, are referred to as “By-Law 5”.

Despite the name, this is not the law, but the minimum recommended standard recommended by the insurance industry. These standards are set to protect both their clients, and service, and the industry themselves, by reducing the risk which they are insuring.

SAIA is working towards making By-Law 5 compliancy a requirement for householders insurance; in much the same way as VESA standards became a requirement for vehicle insurance.
