Dear Thys – I’ve been meaning to get round to writing to you for over two weeks.
On the evening of 31st December last year I returned home from holiday after a long and weary flight only to discover my electric gate wouldn’t open. I do not have a pedestrian gate and like most residents of Marais- Steyn Park, have an 8ft wall with electric fencing all round the property. My heart sank. I had set up a lamp in the lounge with a timer and the lights were on so I knew it wasn’t a power failure, besides, my motor had a battery back-up.
Again, like most residents my gate motor has a lock on, no problem I had a key, I would simply squeeze my arm through the gate open the motor and override it. After half an hour of trying to do this and not succeeding I was at wits end. How was I going to get into my house and who could I call at no, 18:30 on New Years Eve. Ta dah – Top Security (What I thought they would do I don’t know).
Within 5 minutes of calling the control room and explaining the situation, taking care to let them know this was NOT an emergency, a patrol car was outside my house. I can only describe the person who arrived as a True Gentleman by the name of Goodwill, he then also tried for ages to open the lock, also to no avail. Another few moments later yet another TS patrol car arrived, Goodwill had radioed in and ask a colleague to bring some Q20 to lubricate the rusting lock. Still no joy.
Cutting a long story short, after about 45 minutes and huge amounts of frustration on my side, Goodwill managed to get over my wall, not without incurring a “bite” or two from the electric fence which I most certainly wasn’t prepared to risk! As well as a more than
In my rush to leave two weeks earlier I tripped the switch for the geyser and without realizing, tripped the gate switch too. Within a minute I was able to open the gate. The whole ordeal took about an hour of his time and I can’t express my gratitude to Goodwill and Top Security enough. No lock smith would have come out at that time on New Years eve and If they did they would have probably damaged the gate trying to get in and I wouldn’t like to think at what they would have charged.
Good service is great but the manner in which Goodwill performed and behaved as a representative of your brand and company was without doubt, exceptional and should not go unnoticed. Should I ever get the chance I would head hunt him without a seconds delay! Well done Goodwill your company should be proud of you for going so far above and beyond.
